Child Care Facilities at Stanford

Information on child care at Stanford can be obtained through the WorkLife Center. Phone: (650) 723-2660. They have a packet of useful brochures about child care in general, put out by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

In addition, they can send you an extensive list of local phone numbers for nannies and resource centers, support services for nursing mothers, support for fathers, and special services for parents of sick or disabled children. Options for enrolling in health care benefits at Stanford University are described. There is a set of questions to ask and things to look for when choosing a caregiver.

There are five accredited centers on campus and many others in the surrounding community, caring for infants and children and including after-school programs. Some have parent participation options. ALL HAVE WAITING LISTS.

The WorkLife Center is located at 845 Escondido Road on the campus. The center also provides resources for elder care and for balancing work and family life.

Stanford University offers substantial help to eligible faculty members who need housing in the area.
